Christo ( aka Small dog ..)

Way back in the mists of time I asked my parents - 'Can I have a dog' , naturally I ended up with tropical fish....

In April of 2009 I decided on a whim over Easter I would buy a puppy - as you do. I bought Christo from Blackburn for the princely sum of £50 ( best money ever spent )

Then began the adventures and trips around the Fylde coast as the years progressed.

I took this a a few years ago near the 'Abana' wreck and of course Christo sneaked in shot - little did I know later on Dad ( David Gregson ) had sent this the BBC weather, which was used !


Christo ( and many more people ) loved going round the grounds at Lytham Hall - as anyone knows when you try and get a really good shot of your pet, they move, lick the camera ....



 Ahh the delights of finding hair in your shoe, best black dress, to be honest through the house, car ...! 



Christo was a big softie - in her head she still thought she was a puppy and would try and climb into your lap - hence the name 'Small Dog'...



'Mummy.... I bring you ball ....'



It will be 5 weeks today since I lost my beloved Christo to cancer ( horrid in any form) However she was well loved, spoiled, had far too many toys, well fed, had her own sofa and bed... My Mum, Dad, Guy, Kate, Jo and so many more people will miss her ( and the surprise wet nose ! )

Christo you were unique - A piece of my heart will always belong to you - you made me richer for allowing myself and Guy to share the short time you had with us x x x

Devonshire Road Hospital.... soon to be ?

Image drawn by Brian Hughes Devonshire Road was a community hospital that offered both inpatient and outpatient facilities to residents of Blackpool and its surrounding areas. The hospital housed the Fylde Coast's Dermatology Services and had a Renal Dialysis Unit, a Rehabilitation Ward, Dermatology Ward and a Clinical Skills Laboratory on site. 1891 Blackpool Isolation Hospital was opened on Devonshire Road on the 7 th of July. This original sanatorium, behind the cemetery, was demolished in 1906 after being kept briefly for smallpox isolation. The new hospital was formally opened on the 26 th of March on the opposite corner of Devonshire Road and Talbot Road. Still called Blackpool Sanatorium, it soon became known as Devonshire Road Infectious Diseases Hospital until 1954; locals knew it as “The Fever Hospital”. Fylde Farm

Fylde Farm School (Approved) at Normoss farm opened, run by the Manchester and Salford Society for the Reformation of Juvenile Offenders. Th e school had been started in 1854 as an industrial school. Plans to build a new housing development and holiday village on the site of the former Fylde farm school, Normoss Road, have been passed by Wyre planners. The development plan, which includes 162 new homes, holiday accommodation, offices, education and conference facilities, a fishing lodge, swimming pool, gym and a large country park, was given the go ahead at the meeting yesterday. The proposal was submitted by Lytham-based Kensington Developments. The holiday village, including a country park, lakes and accommodation will be used by the Kensington Foundation, a Blackpool-based charity which promotes the relief of homelessness and poverty and provides holidays for families of children with terminal illness.
